Professor: Remember when I told you about me having trouble on solving linear equations? Well, I just did the homework (1.4) and with all the help it gives me, I was able to do them correctly. I am in love with this site! Just thought to let you know. See you tomorrow! (This is from a student who thought that a technology-based class would be hard for her. She has now changed her mind.)

I have never been been interested in math, and as a result I received average grades. MathXL has helped me further my knowledge. Now, I get excited when I get superior marks on my tests.

If was not for this program MATHXL I would not be getting the grade I have now that is for sure. There is a certain amount you can learn when you are sitting in a classroom with just a instructor and they have 20 kids to teach. The MATHXL is a program for your own pace. It allows you to view examples on each question just in case you can't remember the way to solve it. The tests on the MATHXL are awesome as you can try it as many times as you want and learn the problem to the point where you now can do it in the back of your head. I give MATHXL an A+ and I hope I get to use it with all my other Math classes I will be taking over the next year or two.

I attempted this class when I was 18, I only had 1 kid and no job at the time, and I dropped out 4 weeks into class. I was taking the regular class, sitting at a desk trying my hardest to stay focused (I am diagnosed with ADD) and retain all the info the teacher was cramming into me in a 2 hour period. From the beginning, I struggled, and it was very frustrating because math is my favorite subject, and I really don't feel I need to even be in here (just an opinion). From day 1 of this class, I loved it! The way that MathXL teaches me on my homework is the best way I personally have ever been taught. I've never had anyone actually sitting there with me, while I'm doing my homework, showing me how to do each problem that I don't understand. I really am enjoying this class thoroughly and I am glad to have the opportunity to take this class with you.

See what students at Waubonsee Community College have to say about MathXL:
I would have to say that the show me an example and the help me solve this links on mymathlab are the most helpful. It is easier to walk through the examples online then to see all the steps all at once in the textbook.
I feel it is very important to watch the video presentations under mymathlab in addition to reading the chapter. It is very important to complete all homework assignments and do all assigned homework for each chapter. If you are having trouble with homework always click on the help me solve this links. It is a great deal of help.
My advice is to work through every single one of the practice exercises given in each chapter and utilize the example exercises and the "help me solve this" as much as possible. I learned more about algebra in this class than I have ever before. I loved the format and forcing myself to work through every problem, even the ones that didn't necessarily count toward a grade - helped me immensely!
The video presentations helped a lot. They were as if you were in a classroom with a teacher.
On homework assignments, if you get an answer wrong, click the "similar problem" button. This gives you a chance to re-do the problem and get it right. You can keep trying until you get it. So every homework assignment can be 100%. Also on homework assignments, use the Ask My Instructor button if you need to. Sometimes it helps to have it explained. Take each practice test as many times as you feel you need to. The test and the practice test are very similar. So not only will you be familiar with the material, you'll get a sense of the time limit. Use the multimedia learning materials. I especially found the video lectures helpful. If you have technical difficulties, call for assistance. They are very helpful, even on a Saturday morning.

“So far my learning experience in this class has really helped me catch up on material that I had forgotten and in turn is affecting my performance in my other classes in a positive way.”
